Favorite Verse: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
Klaytons Testimony: I grew up believing in a works-based faith, such that God would be pleased with me by my good works, my lack of bad works, and my knowledge of the Bible. In my teenage years, the Lord graciously and gently brought me to the realization that I did not understand the true gospel. He revealed the truth that I am a broken sinner who deserved the full wrath of God, but was saved by grace through faith in Christ alone. Once I got to college, the Lord quickly revealed my apathy towards Him, Jesus Christ's work on the cross, and His calling for me to further His kingdom. He challenged me through the lives of upperclassmen and campus ministry staff who were passionate for evangelizing, growing in their relationships with Christ, and discipleship. Throughout college, the Lord worked in me to prioritize Christ's glorification in my life through the furthering of His kingdom. I truly began to strive to live as Romans 12:1-2, "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
Dana’s Testimony: I grew up attending a traditional Methodist church with my family. I heard about how much God loved me, but never understood why that love mattered. I came to college with a heart full of bitterness toward God, and every part of my life reflected a life lived for myself. The natural consequence of college vices led to extreme brokenness, loneliness, and failure. I was left empty and worthless after finding my worth in things that could never hold my hope. The Lord used this time to soften my heart of stone towards Him, and I began to seek out a church at Purdue. I didn’t tell anyone because I was ashamed of what they might think. I was living with one foot in the world and the other searching for comfort in Christianity in a way that only benefited me. It wasn't until I was invited to a CO halftime at Purdue and got connected with a campus ministry staff member that I heard the gospel for the first time. She showed me Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus." I was in disbelief at hearing of the grace and mercy of Jesus. Up until then, I had always believed Christianity was about earning our way to heaven through good deeds. That Spring, I attended a conference where I fully grasped the weight of my sin and my need for a Savior—Jesus Christ. I repented of my sin and put my faith in Him for salvation. From that moment, my life completely changed. My desires shifted from chasing the empty things of this world to pursuing the God who loved me and died for me. I now live for the glory of God and for others to hear of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
