My Testimony: I grew up in a Christian household and was always involved in the church. It wasn’t until high school that I realized I wasn’t a Christian. I saw that my parents had a relationship with Jesus, and I didn’t, but I didn’t want to because I knew I’d have to give up the sin that I loved so much. When I came to college, I stopped going to church, did everything the culture told me to do and embraced sin. My life felt very surface level and depressing, until I met some girls from Campus Outreach. They loved me, poured into me and asked hard questions no one had ever asked me before. I started coming to Campus Outreach’s weekly meeting and attending church, but still lived for the world. I decided to go to Campus Outreach’s New Years Conference over Christmas break. A speaker there said, “On a scale of 1 to 10, if you were to die right now, would you go to heaven?" I answered in my head. Then he said, “If it is not a 10, you are probably not going to heaven”. Even though I had been hearing the gospel my whole life, this is the first time it clicked with me that I was destined for hell. He went on to share Revelation 3:16, “So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth”. I realized that I had been lukewarm for God. God sent His son to die on the cross for my sins, the death that I deserved, and I would only let him have control over certain parts of my life. That night I turned from my sin, asked God for forgiveness, and chose to follow Him. It has not been easy, but through community, reading the Bible and praying, I have an overwhelming peace and joy in the Lord.
